*** Top 100 Olney (Md.) Good Counsel EDGE Darien Mayo doesn’t have a definitive timeline when it comes to making his decision. Mayo set four June official visits, but that doesn’t mean a commitment will come soon after. Mayo said he is still considering a fifth OV and also knows the unlimited official visit rule will go into effect on July 1. Still, I think the four schools Mayo is visiting — Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and USC — as well as South Carolina are probably the programs at the top of his mind. Michigan has done a great job of selling Mayo on development and recent EDGE production. He is also continuing to build strong relationships with defensive line coach Mike Elston and staffer Dylan Roney. Michigan will be in the DMV to see him in a few weeks.
*** There are a handful of candidates to be Michigan’s big-bodied wide receiver take this cycle, including three-star Olney (Md.) Good Counsel wide receiver Elijah Moore. No, Moore has not visited, but that doesn’t mean Michigan isn’t a contender. Moore was set to visit for the spring game before travel plans fell through. He is now looking to make his first visit later this month. Moore told me he talks to U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy at least three times a week. The two are building a strong relationship. Moore is taking a pretty laid-back approach to the process. He has no set official visits or a timeline.
*** As I mentioned yesterday, Michigan has increased contact with On300 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances cornerback Ify Obidegwu. The top dogs on the corner board remain Aaron Scott and Bryce West, but Obidegwu is a kid the Wolverines could make a harder push for in the near future. Obidegwu told me he’s had some positive conversations with Michigan co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale. He added that he would like to make a visit to Michigan at some point in the near future. However, there is work to do as Tennessee is gaining plenty of steam here.
*** Very quickly, I did not get to catch up with On300 Olney (Md.) Good Counsel linebacker Aaron Chiles as he’s getting his wisdom teeth removed. As of right now, everything is still the same. Chiles plans to make four officials in June before making a final decision. I still have reason to believe Michigan has the lead… Michigan hosted four-star Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances running back DeJuan Williams for a visit this offseason. However, contact has fallen off since then. Ohio State is the team to beat in his recruitment.
