Carson Beck ‘content’ with his spring performance

Carson Beck did not rave about his spring performance with Georgia as he was merely content.

Amid a quarterback battle with Brock Vandagriff, Beck might have the edge after Vandagriff reportedly considered a transfer before returning. But there’s still work to be done throughout the summer.

With spring wrapped up, Beck won’t slow down anytime soon.

“I’d say I’m content with the way that I attacked and performed throughout spring and approached the competition part of it,” Beck said. “Really just focusing on myself first and foremost and trying to better myself and the little areas that I think that I can do. I think the biggest thing is to continue this connection with the wide receivers you know?

“Obviously there’s a lot of guys that came in with me and we’ve been throwing since I was a freshman, but the little intricacies and different routes and how to run different things against different coverages and just little timing. Those things that will just make us better and more explosive.”

Beck and the rest of the team will be on their own for the remainder of the offseason. Before fall camp, Beck wants to make sure he’s a proper leader.

“I think that’s a huge part of it,” Beck said. “And I know we already started a little bit in January, February, you know, certain days whenever we have off or don’t have a scheduled meeting, come in, come throw by yourself, no coaches, and that’s really where we can attack. Like three or four different routes at anytime we go out there and throw and just try to perfect the little things and little intricacies kind of like I said I mentioned before.”

As the battle rages on, defensive back Javon Bullard elaborated on his excitement watching the battle play out, but made are to point out the respect and confidence he has in both throwers.

“I like both of them. I feel like both of them can help our team,” Bullard explained. “Two different style quarterbacks. You know, I just feel like (Georgia offensive coordinator) [Mike] Bobo’s going to put the best guy on the field in the best situations.

“So excited to see those guys battle, but like I said, both of those guys can help our team win and take our team to the next level.”
