Coburn, a product of Spring (Texas) Westfield, played in 13 games in 2022 with 12 starts. As the Longhorns’ primary run-stopper on standard downs, Coburn tallied 29 tackles including 4.0 for loss and 2.5 sacks. One of those sacks was a game-clincher at Kansas State of Adrian Martinez, which forced a fumble recovered by the Longhorns on the Wildcats’ attempt to tie the game.

In nine games during the 2021 season, Coburn tallied 15 tackles with 2.0 for loss and one sack. He started 11 of 12 games for the Longhorns, and blocked a PAT in the season-opening win versus Louisiana.

Coburn started all 10 games in 2020. He totaled 25 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He also was credited with two pass breakups.

In 2019, Coburn started 12 of the Longhorns’ 13 games, often playing as a head-up nose tackle in former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando’s three-down defensive front. He made 26 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Coburn made use of the four-game redshirt rule in the 2018 season. He played in three games with appearances versus West Virginia, Kansas, and in the Sugar Bowl versus Georgia.

Coburn was one of the top defensive line prospects in Texas in the 2018 class. During the first year of the early signing period, Coburn elected not to sign early and took his recruitment all the way to the second national signing day. While TCU and Miami sought to undo Coburn’s commitment, he stuck with the Longhorns and joined the 2018 class.

The NFL combine saw Coburn record a 5.22 40-yard-dash, vertical jump 27.5 inches, and post 24 reps on the bench press.

Coburn was ranked as the No. 111 overall prospect, the No. 17 defensive lineman, and the No. 10 prospect in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He is the fifth Longhorn to be picked in the 2023 NFL draft, joining Bijan Robinson, DeMarvion Overshown, Roschon Johnson, and Moro Ojomo.
