LSU was in attendance for the spring game of 2024 Picayune Memorial (Miss.) linebacker Jamonta Waller. Outside linebackers coach John Jancek was at the game on Thursday, getting to see the Top 100 prospect.
Waller has already squared away his first four official visits for the summer — to Auburn, Penn State, Florida and Georgia — in the month of June. He’s eyeing a fifth at the end of July with four teams in the mix. Ole Miss leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but maybe Waller will get out of state. The Rebels and Mississippi State remain firmly in the mix.
Among the teams under consideration for that final visit are LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. Waller made visits out to each of those SEC schools during a busy spring tour across the Southeast.
With Jancek swinging by for his Spring Game, the Tigers are hoping to secure that visit. There’s work to be done. Waller knows what he’s looking for though in a college.
“Just start breaking everything down because you can only pick one school,” he said of his priorities in a school. “I’m just taking my time and trying to see everything. I want to find a college that can develop me into a great young man, not just a football player. I can’t play football forever, everybody knows that. Great degree. My goal is to get to the NFL so I want to go to a school that can develop me to get there.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Waller is the No. 80 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 7 overall linebacker in the country.
