Michigan has spent the majority of the recruiting cycle pressing for Top 100 cornerbacks Aaron Scott and Bryce West.
However, the Wolverines are monitoring a few other prospects at the position, including four-star Buford (Ga.) High product TyShun White.
“Michigan is definitely in it with me,” White said. “Coach (Jim) Harbaugh came down to my school. It was really cool to see him. I would love to go to the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry game. They are on my top schools list.”
Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has also been a frequent visitor at Buford.
Both Minter and co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale have kept in contact with White over the last couple of months.
“I really Coach Minter and Coach Clinkscale,” White said. “Coach Minter really likes recruiting at my school and understands what it’s like. He thinks I would be a great fit at Michigan. He said he likes the way Buford produces big players.”
White is also close with teammate and 2025 Michigan linebacker commit Mantrez Walker, who is actively recruiting him to Ann Arbor.
“He tells me to commit and join him,” White said. “I’m proud of my boy Mantrez. I grew up with him. I was really excited when he committed to Michigan. He’s a great player.”
White has official visits locked in with Michigan State, North Carolina, Texas and Texas A&M. However, if Michigan makes a harder push, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him make his way to Ann Arbor.
“I was supposed to go to one of their spring practices, but I wasn’t able to make it,” White said. “That’s one of the schools that I really want to visit. I just want to meet with the coaches and get to know them more and see everything.”
White has no set decision timeline.
At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, White is ranked as the No. 39 cornerback and No. 362 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
White has an On3 NIL Valuation of $43K with 12.3K followers across all platforms. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
