Rising Florida QB hoping to set up Penn State visit

Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich offered Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange quarterback Trever Jackson following an MVP performance in the Elite 11 Regional in Orlando. Yurcich has visited Jackson to watch him throw at his school and the two sides are in discussion to set up a visit in the coming months.

“I’ll be setting up an official there very soon, probably in June,” he said. “They said they loved the way I play. [They like] how I can create plays and can also stay strong in the pocket.”

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect got his name out there after the Elite 11 event in early April. Jackson split MVP honors with fellow Nittany Lions target Luke Kromenhoek. Before the camp, he had a list of offers that included Appalachian State, Campbell, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Massachusetts and Tulane. Since then, he’s picked up Boston College, Illinois, Houston, Texas A&M, West Virginia and others, in addition to Penn State.

Jackson was a first-year starter as a junior in 2022. He led the Warriors to a 7-5 record which ended in an overtime playoff loss to Ocoee. Jackson completed 96-of-162 passes for 1,559 yards and threw 16 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He also added 306 yards on the ground and six touchdowns.

Penn State has opened up its quarterback board this spring. In addition to Jackson, Yurcich offered Ohio’s Ethan Grunklemeyer after watching him throw in April. He also offered Indiana’s Tyler Cherry earlier this week and is still in the process of evaluating others.
