After watching Florida State practice for about two hours on Thursday afternoon, four-star wide receiver Lawayne McCoy gave the Seminoles’ coaching staff some great news.
The Miami Central playmaker committed to the Seminoles and becomes the third WR commit in Florida State’s 2024 class.
“I just feel like this is the perfect fit for me,” McCoy said, adding that he has been to Florida State several times and loves everything about the Seminoles’ program.
McCoy said he didn’t decide to commit until he was on campus this afternoon, and he said he surprised head coach Mike Norvell and the FSU staff with the news.
“He was fired up. Mike Norvell was fired up,” McCoy said. “He yelled in the room.”
McCoy is rated as one of the top 50 players in the state of Florida and one of the top 50 receivers in the nation by the On3 Industry Ranking.
When asked what has him so convinced that Florida State is the school for him, McCoy started out with Norvell.
“My relationship with him and the receivers coach, Coach Dugans,” he said. “We’ve been building a relationship over the past years.”
