Langford’s 13th homer of the season flew past both the outfield wall and then the wall inclosing the ballpark for a monstrous shot that gave the Gators an early lead.
Hitting in the two-hole, Langford worked the count against Commodores starting pitcher Greysen Carter to 3-1. Carter then threw a 92-mph flat fastball over the middle of the plate.
Langford didn’t miss.
Florida added another run in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.
The Gators have been playing some excellent baseball in the series featuring two top-10 teams. They 10-run ruled the Commodores on Friday as Vanderbilt starter Patrick Reilly got shelled for eight runs in four innings.
They then took Game 2 with a 6-2 victory.
Langford entered the day with three hits in eight at-bats with two walks and three ribbies against Vanderbilt in the series.
